Fresh from the acclaimed release of their new CD and DVD, Like A Bridge, world jazz ensemble LUA HADAR with TWIST presents a family-friendly concert of cosmopolitan jazz.

The concert will feature songs from around the world as well as American jazz standards performed with the band’s signature ‘twist,’ in styles, from samba to swing. Special Guest on the program is 14-year old singer-songwriter phenom, Josh Reinier.

Celebrating Women Musicians Concert Series presents this fun and eclectic world jazz concert by multi-lingual vocalist Lua Hadar and her band of top international musicians: Music Director Jason Martineau on piano, Dan Feiszli on bass, Celso Alberti on drums, Ian Dogole on Global Percussion, Larry De La Cruz on reeds.

Lua Hadar is a multi-lingual vocalist and actor, a teaching artist and an independent producer. She has a lifelong commitment to cultural exchange and has been inspired by collaborations in Bali, France, Italy, Japan, Russia, Switzerland and Thailand. The mission of her band, TWIST, is to create world harmony through their signature “jazz without borders.” Lua has performed as a singer and actor since her New York childhood. Graduating summa cum laude with a B.A. in Theatre Performance, Lua attended the celebrated Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and The Dalcroze School of Music, also studying with Metropolitan Opera coach, Joan Dornemann. She also holds teaching credentials and an M.A. in Education. A unique and original vocalist with a soaring range, Lua interprets lyrics in several languages with a charming, swinging delivery as well as passionate commitment and humor. She has appeared at The Fairmont Hotel, The Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco’s Rrazz Room, The Plush Room and Jazz at Pearl’s, New York’s Iridium Jazz Club and Cornelia Street Café, the Swan Bar in Paris, Theatre Les Tisserands in Lille, France, and at the Bangkok International Festival of Dance & Music. She recently debuted at Yoshi’s Oakland. She released her new CD, Like A Bridge on April 14, 2012 at Somethin’ Jazz Club in New York City and on June 3 at The Jazzschool in Berkeley. The CD is receiving airplay from Maine to Alaska, as well as critical acclaim. In November, Hadar and TWIST will release their concert DVD, also recorded, in broadcast quality, at Fantasy Studios. Hadar delivers Master Classes in interpretation and style of the body of musical material known as The Great American Songbook, part of her heritage as a native New Yorker and daughter of a musician. Her San Francisco-based Studio NPG provides professional development for performing artists and offers salon concerts and events for the community, featuring teaching artists such as Broadway-TV-film star, Faith Prince, among others.
